The Daily Mail’s Johannesburg correspondent states that tho Chinese oatrages have stirred the whole of South Africa, and it is considered that the mines should pay tho coat of extra protection rendered necessary. Trades, ho says, are opposed to the compound system, wishing that . coolies would spend their earnings. Moreover, the compound system would revive the cry of slavery. Therefore Johannesburg continues hoping for the beat from the new regulations.
