"THE HUGARDE3.” A corespondent telegraphed from Weiington yesterday afternoon : A party rom Government House attended the en tertainment given by tbe * Hugardes last eveninK. Tbo performance was a brilliant aucoess 8 His. Excellency the Governor was particularly anxious to witness the teat entitled 1 Invulnerability, and for that purpose brought with him a marked bullet. His Excellency expressed himself ", ‘reatlv pleased with the performance. Sneaking of this feat, the Wellington | ICning Post says : - Perhaps the most startling of the conjuring feats was that entitled” 1 Invulnerability, in which Dal Hugarde is tbe active end his brother the fassive performer. From a tray of bullets the audioooa are requested to piok j •three, and mark them. Throe volunteers then march from the ba °Vt ‘J j eium to the stage, where tbeir rifles are loaded in view of the spectators, with the marked bullets. They then return to the rear of tbo pit, and Joan Hugarde, who has been sitting watching the proceedings, now arises and holds before.his breast a gnu are of black velvet with a red heart embroidered on it, as a target for the marksmen. Thera is a loud report, and the three marked bullets drop from the Velvet shield into a plate beneath, which is immediately oarried ioto the stalls, where the bullets are examined and verified by tbe puzzled spectators..
