IMMIGRATION PROBLEM.

In the Assembly Mr Oarrnthers, in reply to numerous questions, stated that the House would givo an opportunity of fully discussing the application of English settlers for farms here.

A select oommitteo has begun taking ovidenoe as to the mail service between Australia and Great Britain. Mr Soott, secretary of the Central Post Office Administration, expressed the opinion that there was a shipping ring which restricted competition. The mail contraot of the Post Office was very much at the mercy of one company.
