TO-NIGHT’S SOCIAL.
His Majesty’s Theatre should this even* \ ing, ho: the scene of a bright and happy assemblage, the occasion being the holding of a grand basket social by the Toranganni Lodge of Druids. It is now some years since a basket social was held in Gisborne; in time past these socials were very popu* lar, and great was the interest manifested in the sale of the baskets. The young ladies who provided the baskets had per- | force to have supper with the purchasers of their “ kits,” and frequently great amusement was caused by gentlemen paying high prioes for baskets owned by ladies, while believiDg they belonged to certain other ladies. This eveniDg wilt see this oustom revived, and no doubt will be as popular as of yore, while prizes wilß be offered for the beet provisioned baskets. The grand march by the Druids in regalia,, with limelight effects, should bo a pleasing feature of the evening. Excellent arrange' menta have boen made for the function,, whioh should prove mo3t eojoyable. Tho dress oirole is to be open to onlookers at *- nominal charge.». - , ■
