(Per Press Association.) Wellington yesterday. After the telegraph office dosed, in Committee on the Electoral Bill, Mr Hardiog’s motion to reduce the number of Maori members from four to three was lost by 42 to 16. A motion by Mr Massey, that the provision relating to four Maori members should remain in force until nest census and no longer, was negAtived by 40 to 16. On reaching clause 187 progress was reported, and the House rose at 3.54 a.m.

AFTERNOON SITTING.; Wellington, last night. The House met at 2.30. In reply to a question the Premier stated that the Government is seriously considering the question of amending the libel law of the colony, so os to bring it into linb with that of Queensland and the mother country. In all probability, next session Parliament would bo given an opportunity of considering the matter. The greater part of the afternoon was occupied in discussing Ministerial replies to questions, EVENING SITTING.

The House resumed at 7.30. Several amendments in tbe Teachers’ Superannuation Bill were brought dawn by Governor’s message. Mr Seddon said that the recommendation of Education Committee were included amoDg these amendmonts. The total amendments proposed meant an increase in the liability of the colony of £140,000. The Electoral Bill was further considered by the Committco.
