POVERTY BAY ROWING CLUB.

The twenty second annual meeting of the above oiub was held at the Albion Hotel last nigbt, there being a large at'endanoe, Mr A. Pritchard presiding. The Treasurer read the balanoo-sheet j and report (which were adopted) as follows: Tho committee, in presenting their annual report, have much pleasure in congratulating the members on the fairly successful season of 1904-5, and hope it will be even more successful duiing the ooming season. Financial: Although the club’s overdraft at the bank—.£s2 6s Bd—is well up to tho limit, it must be remembered the olub has added two single scullers and one four-oared raoing olinkcr boat to their fleet, and several sets of oars; and with good management the deficiency can be wiped off this season. The statement shows the assets to be £166 9s 4d over the liabilities. Plant: Owing to the interest takon in souliing it was deoided to have two single scullers added to the plant, and they were obtaiood from Mr Geo. Norton, boatbuilder, of Wellington. It was also found advisable during the season to procure a Dew fobr oar, the old practice boats beiDg rather heavy, and tho following members Igenerously guaranteed the first payment if necessary—Messrs A. Pritchard, J. Smith, Aif Pool, G. McConnell, A. Richardson, K. McLeod, M. McLeod, H. Bannister, C. Taylor, B, Kellet, L. Tate. The club is now in possession of a tip-top fleet. Rowing: The olub bad some very good aontests during the past season, and some exciting finishes took place in the four-oar raoes. There was also some good racing in tho stogie souliing, especially for the handsome gold medal donated by Mr F. Harris. In the annual fixtures our senior orew was successful against the Gisborne crew, but were beaten by the Union of Napier, who bad a very strong crew. In the other races, including a new fix'uro for youths, our crews were beaten by a small margin on eaoh ocoasion. Donations : The thanks of the Olub are due to all those gentleman for their generosity in donating trophies, including Messrs F. Harris, W. J. Cox, E. Ellerbeck, and J. Innes ; to all those ladies who so ably assisted in the success of the functions of the annual picnic and social; also to Mesdatnes Simeon and Green, who generously placed a room at the services of the Club for special meetings. Obituary : The Club, by death, has lost one of its oldest and best members in the person of Mr John Rosie, who up till reoent years, always took an active part in the management, and was for many years hon. treasurer to the Club, and at all times was a liberal patron, and one whose place will ba [ difficult to fill. Conclusion : During the season Mr F. Fox, the secretary, was called away at a few days’ notice. However, Mr William Fraser, who has in previous years |held 'the office, kindly took up the position, assisted by Mr A. Sawyer, junr., and has earned the best thanks of the club for hiß untiring efforts Ito promote its welfare. From the outlook of the position, and the new members who have notified their intention of rowing this season, there promises to be a boom time ahead of the club this season.

Pool, W, j Scbrafit, R. Jodob, W. MoGuffie,. and M. McLeod, , The following now members were elected : Messrs G. Clark, J. Sheen, J. Young, T. McConnell, W. Birkett, W. I Tills, J. O’Hara, B.
