COMMISSIONER’S REPORT.
(Per Press Association.) i?: ' Wellington, last night, The Department of Industries and Com- I meree has received the following cablegram from the Biigh Commisaioner, dated London, 16th inst. :-The mutton market is weak, and there is an inclination to force sales. The average price to day for Canterbury mutton is 4£d per > b > *" I North Island mutton, Bsd per lb (»B ht Weights) and 3}d and Bfd per lb respectively (heavy weights). Lamb . The I market is dull owing to the poor demand, and that the stock is accumulating. Abe average price to-day for New Zealand lamb, Canterbury brand, ia 5d per lb. and for brands other than Oonterbnry 4„d per Ml, The beef market is quiet, and there is no change in prices. Supplies of Biyer Plato beef aro heavy. Pncea of obi led hinds are 3|d, fores 2ld. The market is steady, but without and there is less demand. The price for Danish is 120 s, Canadian 107 s, and Australian 110 s. The obeaso market is slightly weakor, with lees demand. Canadian is quoted at 555. There is a better demand for hemp. Tfa e market is steady, and holders are firm. The price of New Zealand hemp, good, fair Wellington I grade, on spot, to-day Is T 29, Ootober an December shipments JE3O. The price for bright, clean New Zealand oooksloot seed, weighing 171 b per bushel, no spot is 53s ■or owl. Oarrent'Braclford quotations for tops are: 36’s, low crossbred, Is 4d; 4Us, low crossbred, Is 4Jd ; 44’s, medium crossbredi, Is 6d; 60’s, hallbreds, Is B*d-; 56 s, qaarterbredis, Is 10id; 60’s,- merinos, 2s dd
