QUARTERLY SALES.
The Gisborne Woolbrokers’ Association held their quarterly sale yesterday afternoon. Tboro was a full attendance of Auckland buyers and bidding for all classes wsb spirited. Very little wool came forward owing to tho bad state of the country roads. Messrs Williams and Kettle report:— 11 Our offerings consisted of 50 bales of
wool, 1209 skins, 70 hides, and 20 paoksges of tallow. The wool consist*d mostly of odd lots of stragglers’ fleece wool and crutcbiogs. Goad olasses met with very animated competition, and record prices were obtained. Bough fleece brought from 7£d to B£d, while orutchings sold from 6d to 7id. We were disappointed in not receiving a number of other lots, whioh had been detained in the country owing to the operation of the Cook County new wide tyre by-law. Outside buyers expressed disappointment at the shortness of the catalogue, as they have always been loyal in their attendance, and looked on us to have sufficiently large catalogues to make it worth tbeir while attending from such long distances. Hides sold at from 7£d foe cow anu Btation hides to 4fd for heavy ox freezers.” Common, Shelton and Go. roport the following prices :—Dead wool Bd, crutohings 6Jd, well saved station skins 7£d to B£d, medium skins from 7d to 7£d, inferior skins s£d to 6?d.
