SALE AT MATAWHERO ,YARDS*

Messrs Williams and Kettle and the I New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agenoy I Company, Ltd., held their fortnightly sale of etook at the Matawheroyards yesterday. There was a good attendance and increased yarding. Sheep: The yarding consisted of over 8000. The priced ranged as follows—2s9 hoggets (small ones) 18s, 110 ewes with 106 lambs and 15 still to lamb (good line) 20s 9d, a small pen fat ewes 18a 6d, 10 fat ewes 19s, 23 ewes and 25 lambs 19s 6d, 28 empty ewes (culls) 85,&45 fat ewes (off: turnips) 17s, 58 ewes and lambs 15s 9d, 86 ewes and lambs 22a 6J, 125 big hoggets 17s, 90 four tooth wethers 19a, 42 fat ewes 18s, 26 empty ewes (oolls) 7s 91, 45 prime fat ewes 2le, a pen hoggots 14s 9d, 14 hoggets (choice lot) 18s, Cattle: Over 200 head came forward The yarding comprised mostly first-class dairy stock, springing cows, and cows and calves,-also a sprinkling of beef oattle. The following were the prices—1 springing heifer £5, 2 do £3 17s 6d, 1 old bull £2 7s 6d, 4 fat bullocks £5 15$.

Pigs: There was a fair entry, and the market waa good. Three bows sold at 17s, 7 small porkers 7s, 6do 9s, 1 big bow £2 2s.

Messrs Common, Shelton and Co. and Dalgety and Co. held their sale at 12.30. Stock sold as follows

Sheep: The yarding oonßist6d of upwards of 400. The sheep wore of first elaas quality, bat the market being poor there was not muoh competition, and several lines were passed in. One hundred and fifty-three hoggets brought 15s, 42 fat i wethers 19s, and a fine line of wether hoggets 15s Bd. There was not muoh demand for sheep of the lattor class, whiob I showed a drop in price of 2s. I Cattle: A few were offered, when 15 to 18 months' sorts brought £2 12s, whilst I dairy etook was unsaleable. j Pigs: Fourteen porkers were offered, and I sold at from 8s for small ones to 16s fid for lengthy sorts.
