FIRE ON BARQUE.

Christchurch, last night. A fire broke out this afternoon in the sail looker of the Norwegian barque Alma, 470 tons, lying at Gladstone pier. The vessel had discharged a cargo of guano, and taken in ballast, preparatory to sailing for Surprise Island. A lighted candle overturned in tbe locker, and set fire to a pile of oakum, and tbe outbreak was only extinguished after some difficulty, with the assistance of a tog and the fire brigade.
