SCHOOL FOOTBALL.

NAPIER v. GISBORNE.

A return matoh was played at tho Victoria Domain last Saturday betweon the above sohool teams. The weather was fine, and there was a large, attendance. Tho play of tho visitors was very lifeless, whioh was probably due to their sea voyage. The looalß, especially tho vanguard, played with groat dash, and although not so well eohoolod in tho finer points of tho game as the Napier lads, they were able to oomo out viotors bv 15 points to nil. Tbo soorerß were Moßao (2), Frame, Luttroll, and Morrell. A feature of the game was tbo packing of the local sorum. No sooner was the ball put in than it was hooked aud Bont out lo the half like o flash. Tho ball was soul out quiokor and cleaner on Saturday than in anysonior game here this season. It wob little wonder that tho looal half let it shoot betweon his legs. He made up for this by tbo splendid way he went down to the foot rushes, Buving hia eido ropeatedly. The local three-quarter line, Morrell, Lang, and Wrigbt, played splendidly, their tackling, kiokiog, and taking tho ball being faultless. The full back, Stubbs, was as safe as over, Ho did Dot get a great amount to do, but did what came hiß way like a tradesman. Luttroll played rover, but was always in tho position of five-eighths when any passing was to bo done. Besidos the try he soorod, ho was responsible for the last try. Getting away from oontre ho made a fine ruD, being thrown-out a few yards from tho lino. From the throw-in he Bgain obtained possession, giving Morrell an easy try, Tho forwards werß an ovon lot, and fell into thoir plaoos like clookwork. Tho most prominent were Dunlop, Moßao, and Liddle. The visitors were decidedly offoolor. Their backs showed they could handle the ball nicely, but appeared to take little interest in their work. Neither backs nor forwards went down to tbo rushes. Holder and McLernon showed best form. Mr R. G. Hallamore officiated as referee,
