A Press Association te'igram. from the Thames yesterday states:—George Houghton, aged about 80, an inmate of Tararu Homo, was drowned this morning accidentally. He fell from the landing at Grahamstown, and when rescued was too far gone to be resusoitated. He was well known throughout the goldfields. There being no criminal business to bo dealt with by the Supremo Court yesterday, His Honor was presented with a pair of gloves by the Registrar, Mr W. A. Barton. Mr Justioe Edwards replied: *• I am much obliged to you, Mr Barton. I may say that it is no new thing for mo to receive such a present. For some time I was kept in gloves by the Court at Blenheim through the absence of criminal cases there.' The funeral oi the late Mr Henry Williams took place yesterday afternoon from his late residence, Palmerston road, and was largely attended by brethren from Lodge TuraDganui, No. 1480, E.C, MasoDio, and Loyal Gisborne Lodge, I 0.0. P., M.U. The brethren of both Lodges formed procession and marohod behind the ooffin to Roebuok road, and also again at tho Makaraka cemetery, Tbe burial servioo of tbe Church of England was conducted by Rev. Dawson Thomas and the* Masonic rites by tho Rev. Bro. Hounseli. The services were of a most impressive character, the brethren of both Lodges forming a procession round the grave, ond dropping in their emblems as token of respect. The late Mr H. Williams was a very old member of Lodge United Service (Masonic), Auckland, and latterly member of Lodge Tnranganui, 1480, E.C. (Masonic), Gisborne ; also a member of the Good Intent Lodge, (1.0.0. P., M.U.), Auckland. Tho deceased gentleman was brother to Mr F. Williams of this towD, and was greatly respeoted for his retiring ond straightforward disposi- 1 tioa.
