NOTES ON THE TEAM.

[By “ Critic.”]

Although not the strongest combination that could be got together the team is fairly representative, and should give a good account of itself. The front division eonld hardly be improved on, but Nolan’s absenoe from the three-quarter line and Bongo from five-eighths, must greatly weaken the backs, necessitating Delamore taking wing three-quarter, and only playing one five-eighths-The following is a short description of the merits of the team : ■ I Full-baok, Bowe (Huia): A fine defensive player; tackles and Btops rushes well. New to the position, but should give a good account of himself. Played centre half for Newton, Auckland, 1904. Wing three-quarter, Delamere (KaitiCity): Best kiok in the team; strong, dodgy runner; especially strong aggressive player. Has played brilliantly at five-eighths for his team, but does not shape well on the three-quarter line. Oentre three quarter, Hay (Kaiti City): A safe and reliable back ; takas the ball, passes, and kicks well. Good tackier, and stops rushes well. Plays with Bound judgment. . , Wing three-quarter, Sohrant (KaitiCity): A fast and tricky player, who uses his pace to advantage. A first season player, who with a little more experience should blossom into a very fine back. Five-eighths, Bobinson (Huia): A good ajll-roand pls-yer, with a thorough knowledge of sb£ game. Shines both in defence and in attack. Makes fine openings, and quick to seizo an advantage. BepreBented Grafton (Auokland) win® threequarter last year. Good plaoe kick. Half-back, Wi Friday (West End) : A good solid grafter; can stand any amount of knocking about. Gets away from the sorum nicely, but should pass more. Best stopper of rushes in the team. Wing forward, Sheet (West End): Fast, dashing ployer, with plenty of staying power. Should shield his half more. Good I sooring man. Wing forward, 0. Sharp (Kaiti-Cityl : Another new exponent of the Bogby game. Is on the ball from start to finish, and passes and uses his feet well. With a fuller knowledge of the game and a few seasons' experience in good oompany, should develop into a final fiighter,

I Hookors, Freer (Kaiti-Oity) aud ParkorTuroi (West End): The former is a I veteran of many years standing, having I rspresented Poverty Bay in the front rank lof the scrum in 1897. The latter is un--I douht-idiy ono oi the finest forwards that J the district has produced. Pivot: Sherratt (Huia) will probably fill I this position. Splendid at lino work, and I on fcbe fcbo ball all the time. , Loydon (Kaiti-City): A fino serumI rnagor, who porforms the work sot him I like a tradesman. A solid grafter. Wopiha (West End): The Horoulos of I the team. Plays with good judgmont, I and shines in all departments. Splondid place kick.
