In sentencing Poroy Dawson, who had pleaded guilty to stealiog from his em~ ! ployers, tbo Auckland Racing Club, 412938 8s 6d, Mr Justico Edwards took into aooooDt accused's previous good character, the great temptations whioh surrounded him, and the laxity of supervision exercised over him. To give him an opportunity to reform, ho passed a lonient sontenoe of one year's hard labor. j
William Henry Cowan, for the theft ol £127 from tho Telegraph Department al Rotorua, was sentenced to six months' imprisonment.
