(Per Press Asiwclation.) , Wellington, Aftor the telegraph office closed, tins lands debate was adjourned on Mr son’s motion, and tho Honse rose at 2.25 a.m.
' IAETERNOON SITTING,! (For Press Association.! Wellington, last night. The Council met at 2.80. Tho business was confined to consideration of a couple of local Bills. The House met at 2.30. Formal business occupied the greater part of the afternoon. A BREACH OF PRIVILEGE.
Messrs Rutherford and Witty complained of the tone of a letter they had received from the Rev. Dr Gibb, President of the Bible-in-Schools League, accusing them of having broken their pledges to refer the matter of Bible reading in the State schools to the'people. , Mr Seddon said the House could not lei the incident pass unnoticed, and he moved that a breach of the privileges oftheHoueß had been committed by the Rev. Dr Gibb, After considerable discussion this was carried by 37 to 27, and Mr Seddon intimated that he did not intend to proceed any further ih the matter, ' Mr Massey then moved “ That the breaoh of privilege is so slight that it is unworthy of further notice." The debate was interrupted by the dinner adjournment. EVENING SITTING*
The House resumed at 7.80. After further disoussion on - the Gibb breaoh of privilege question, Mr Wilford, in order to terminate the debate,, moved “ the previous question,” which was carried by 87 to 81, and the incident terminated. The land debate was then resumed, and continued throughout the evening.
