Byj telegraph, Press Aua’n, Copyright London, August 31. The Australians began a match at Bournemouth to-day against an England eleven, captained by Dr Graoe. The home team is: Graoe, Fishwiok, Quaife, Hargreaves, Arnold, Cuff, Pearson, Jayes, Braund, Llewellyn, and Stone. Gregory, Duff, Kelly, and Newland stand out ot the colonial team. The weather was fine, but the wioket soft. Grace won the toes, and deoided to bat, going in himself with Fishwiok. The champion had a brief stay, Armstrong bowling him for a braoe. The first wioket fell with the total at three. Then Fishwiok and Braund had a merry partnership, treating the colonials to a deal of leather-hunting. Fifty went up in half an hour. Fishwiok got his runß chiefly by driving . and leg-hitting, and Braund by bard hitting all round the wioket. The seoond wioket fell at 88, the third at 93, and the fourth at. 106. Darling and Trumper opened the Australians’ innings, and’rattled np 58 before Darling was dismissed by a yorker. He had Indulged in some'bard hitting. He gave a chance when 18.' Trumper and Hill oarried the total to 107. Trumper played a faultless innings, characterised by powerful cutting and driving. He bit a fiver and seven fourers. Hill, who remained till 140 was on the board, obtained bis runs by clean, hard driving. He put on 28 while Noble was making 5. He hit seven fourers. The fourth wicket fell at 150, the fifth at 161, and the sixth at 162.
