The property known as Aramoho Meat Freezing Works, which has been subject to much litigation between the former proprietor, Mr Thomas Mitchell, and the Loan and Mercantile Company, was submitted to auction to-day, and bought in by the company, the freehold, building, works, and plant for £IO,OOO, loose assets and leasehold £IOOO, and lighter for £IOOO. Last month there were 18 deaths in Wanganui, including nine persons of an average age of 75. There were 45 births.

In the divorce case Earee v. Earee, an application made by the Rev. Earee, petitioner, for discontinuance of payment of alimony to respondent on the ground of unchastity, the order was refused, but a reduction of the alimony from £2 to £l per week was granted. At the Wellington Kennel Club’s show special awards were made as follows :—Best black field spaniel, J. M. Davies ; best sporting dog or bitch in the show, E. Webster ; best Irish terrier in the show, David Robertson ; best Irish setter bitch, Sam Whitworth ; best smooth coated fox terrier puppies, T. Hide and Savage; and best pointer, P. S. Smith; best collies, J. R. Hayne (five separate awards), and Neill and Rennie ; best terrier bitch, Jansen and Clarke ; best greyhound, R. M. Brewer. Ohristchuroh, yesterday. _ A man named Frederick Crosbie was found this morning with his head nearly severed from his body, in a house at Richmond, where he was boarding, An inquest will be held this afternoon.

Dunedin. I«3t eight. The harbormaster advises tho Board that the depth of water at Otago Heads is 36 feet, which is the best in the history of tho port. David Stuart, aged 84, residing at Mornington, died suddenly yesterday. An inquest will bo held to-morrow. Joseph Piaggi, alias Miller, was charged to-day with receiving stolen jewellery valued at £2B 15s. Accused, who was arrested in Wellington, pleaded guilty. After evidence |was taken, he was committed for sentence. The stolen articles were the proceeds of recent jewellery robbories here.
