THE PEACE DECLARATION.
[(Pm Press Association. 1 ): Wellington, last night. Tho Legislative Oonneil devoted the afternoon to tho consideration of local Bills.
- The House met at 2.30 p.m. After the Auditor-General’s. report regarding the Seddon voucher had been dealt with, Mr Seddon expressed satisfaction at the cable news received that peace bad been proclaimed, and said all must rejoice in knowing that the • terrible war between Russia and Japan was at’ an end, He felt that our graoious Sovereign Edward tho Peacemaker had something to do: with the declaration of peaoe. He asked members by acclamation to receive the glad and welcome tidings. Loud applause from all parts of the House followed the Premier’s remarks. The Maori Laud Councils Bill was read a second time on the voioes and referred to the Native Affairs Committee,.

The House resumed at 7.80.
The whole evening was occupied in con* Bidering the Shops and Offices Bill in Committee. J V . '• lS "' -
Up to midnight no amendment had been made, in the Bill aa repotted from the Labor Bills’Committee.
