Mr Seddon announced that when the House disposed of his motion to go into Committee to consider the land proposals of -whioh he had given notioo the Publio Works statement would bo brought down, j He proposed to make his motion the first f order of the day for Thursday. I On the motion to go into Committee to j i’oonsider the Imprest Supply Bill, Mr J .Hardman moved an amendment affirming I the necessity for setting up a Fublio Ser- j ‘ vioe Board for the colony. ]'
EVENING SITTING, The Heuse resumed at 7.80. /The debate on Mr Hardman’s amendment proceeded throughout the evening. Sir JVC. Ward said that what was wanted was classification and superannuation of the Civil Servioe, and the Government would give the House an opportunity Of going on with that scheme this session. Mr Massey said if the Opposition got into power one of its first enaotments would be to establish a Civil Servioe Board. ;
Mr Seddon objected to the establishment of a Fublio Servioe Board, on the ground that it would take off the Bhonlders of the Government the responsibility of oarrying on the . Civil Servioe. :
