[(Per Press Association.) Ashburton, last night. Stanley Williams, aged 15, died under chloroform while undergoing an operation for appendicitis at the Hespitßl this afternoon. Two doctors were in attendance. Napier, last night. A ladies’ hockey tournament was commenced on the Recreation ground to-day. The Napier High School and Huia hookey club teams (Meanee) played a draw, each side scoring a goal. The Maroro A team (Napier) defeated the Craven school team ■ (Palmerston North) by one goal to nil. Dunedin, last night, At the Supreme Court to-day Albert Pyle, charged with breaking and entering and stealing near Roxburgh, was acquitted. Elizabeth Ward, a middie-aged woman, I was found guilty of theft from a dwelling, I and sentenced to three years’imprison-I ment. This concluded the criminal sit- I tings.
