FOOTBALL NOTES.

After a long and stubborn fight tho wearors of tho bluo and black jersey have drawn within two points of West End, and as thoro is only one more match to be, played; in the competition, Kaiti-City,:if successful, will bo Iplaced on level terms wjth last year’s champions, and a final matoh will have to be played. As tbo junior matches have beon aonoludod, both clubs will be able to draw on their junioro, and should be considerably strengthened thereby. Swaineon will probably strengthen the Kaiti-City forwards, ana Cowan the WeßtEnd three quarter division. West End will be without the services of Kelly and Carr, who are both absent from the district, and probably Brown, who was injured in last Saturday’s game. They will,, however, hove tbo services of Wepiho, Wi Friday, Penei, Heke, and Paterson. KaitiCity will play without their skipper, J, Mai tin, who hod his thumb put out lust Saturday, but 0. Sharp, who met with a similar accident in tho Hawke’s BayPoverty Bay representative matoh, will be able to take his place among the KaitiCity forwards. Both teamß are in steady training, and whatever the result may be, the play should be interesting and of a high order throughout the match, The Kaiti-City book play should be superior to that of their opponents, but the black vanguard should more than hold their own.
