MR STEAD’S TEAM AT RANDWIOK
R, J. Mason arrived in Sydney on the 2ud instant from New Zealand, with Nightfall, Sungod, Noctuiform, and lseult, the property of Mr Geo. G. Stead.. “ The quartette," says the sporting writer of the Sydney Daily Telegraph, " are all by Mr Btead’e once famous racehorse Multiform, and, notwithstanding a very rough passage across the Tasman Sea, the horses landed in excellent trim, which speaks well “for the qualities of the steamship Mokoia and the care bestowed upon the horses by their attendants. The last 48, hours of the voyage the horses travelled under battened batches, as tbs sea ran very high, and frequently broke aboard, Nightfall, who is tiie principal performer of the party, is little changed since she was here last year. Noctuiform is a three-year-old brother to Nightfall, and a better sort than his bril. liant sister, being very strong and short on to£, with no end. of length underneath. Hh is also a chestnut, with a narrow blaze down the faoe. Sungod is a half-brother to Martian, who outstayed even Lord Cardigan at Randwick. Sungod is a very low-set, brandy-colored bay. with black painted tops. He is Martian over again in a except perhaps width. On looks, ” 18 the pick of the party. She is a long hy whole bay filly, with pei , {eo6 shoulders and a splendid length of style, but is a trifle light iu the back ribs. lseult has never raced, or been away from home before entering upon the trip to Sydney, but she behaved herself as became the faay she looks, and even set her more experienced mates an example in deport, meat both on nad off the boat.". :, ;; B
