(Pan Press Association.) Auckland, last night. The proposal to inaugurate a superannuation soheme for the City Council employees has been referred to the finance committee.
Masterton, last night. The Wairarapa coursing meeting concluded to-day. In the final for Robertson’s Cup, J. William’s Lord Cardigan, by Lord Roberts Fairly Vale, boat J. Nathan’s Labnrnam, by Ilex—Frisky Girl. The Maiden Sweepstake was won by Spurr and Probble’s Brunette, who beat Dwyer’s Warnote in the final. The Sapling Stakes was won by A, E. Wilton’s Crimson Rambler. Dunedin, last night. At a meeting of the Sohool Committee Conference a motion wAs carried that the Conference cannot see its way to recommend the adoption of a scheme tor the encampment of school cadets. The society for the protection of women and children passed a resolution deploring that it is still possible for relatives of married women or of widows to be relieved of their legal and mutual responsibilities by payment of a lump sum to the adopter. The Society, in the interests of ohild life preservation, objects to this kind of baby farming.
