Perth, Aug. 16. At the inquest on Blake, the inspector stated that he had suspended Blake for irregularities, and the latter had cabled to his father to meet the deficiency., . '
BLOWN TO PIECES WITH Dynamite.
A telegram from Perth, dated August 7, in the Sydney Morning Herald gives the following account of the tragic death of Mr H. Irwin Blake, briefly reported in our oable messages at the time : “A sensation was caused in tho city last night when it beoame known that the mutilated body of Mr H. Irwin Blake, 1 manager and attorney of the New Zealand i Accident Insurance Company, had been ■ discovered near Canning bridge. During the afternoon Mr Blako called at his office with the intention of proceeding io Applecross, to call on Mr Hsrpor, for whom he promised to bring a parcel of dynamite for I the purpose of blowing up some trees. Mr | Blake was riding his horse Sioalor, well known in tho hunting field, and the winner of the Hunt Club Cup. At about five o’olock in the afternoon, his horse was found galloping along the road neat the Canning Bridge, with bloodstains on the saddle and stirrup irons, Later on the polios discovered Mr Blake’s body in a frightfully mutilated condition in the bush close to the road. ! “ The head and trunk wore shattered the features of the faoe being recognisable only by those who knew him well. Attached to the saddle was a long piece oi fuse such as is used to explode dynamite. “ The deoeassd gentleman, who was a son of Sir Henry Blake, G.C.M.G., Governor of Ceylon, has left a wife and family of six ohildren—two sons and four daughtera,
11 Mr Blake was insured for £6OOO, onethird of which is in accident companies. The Ocean Accident Company and the Colonial Mutual Company are interested to the extent of £IOOO each, and two or three life companies (including the National Mutual for £1250) for £4OOO. Mr Blake was very popular in the oity.”
