1 (For Press Association.) Napier, last night. At the inquest on the body of Thomas Heury Murtagh a verdiot was returned that death was caused by poisoD, due to taking arsenic in mistake for bicarbonate of soda.

At the inquest on the body of Pa Karauria the medical evidence was to tho effect that death was caused by heart failure, and a verdict was returned in acoordaooe with the evidonoe.

The annual meeting of tho Napier Park Racing Club was held to-day. The balance-sheet showed a profit of £2O 16s lOd. This, only-a small amount, must bo deemed very satisfactory when it is o'onsidered that the wholo of the six days on whioh racing was held last season were wet, which materially affai-tod the gate aad totalisator receipts. The withholding of a publioan’s license had also affected the club’s revenue to the extent of about £250 for the year.
