BIORAMA COMPANY.
There was a very large attendance at the Beoreation Ground yesterday afterI noon to hear the saored concert given by the Biorama Band, assisted by the Gisborne City Band. The two bauds marohed I together to the ground, playing alternately. The local band played “ Sabbath Chimes ” in the Botunda, and the visitiDg bandsmen went through a programme of sacred I singing, orchestral and brass band items. Brigadier Albiston stated that the afternoon was the most successful the band had had in Now Zealand, and the Gisborne people had responded liberally to their appeal for funds to assist the social and missionary work of the Army. The Brigadier proposed a hearty vote of thanks to the City Band for tbo assistance given and for the kindness shown to the Biorama Band while in Gisborne. In the ovening the band held a church parado at St.
Andrew’s Church. They played and members sang a glee while the offertory was being taken up. The Eev. J. G. Paterson made kindly reference to the good work the band was doing. After church the band marched to the Theatre, where a packed house awaited them, every available spaoe being taken up. The proceedings opened with the illustrated hymn “ Shall wo Gather at the River,” the congregation joining in. Brigadier Albiston then led in prayer. This was followed by the Biograph pictures—” The Bridge of Sighs,” ” Buy your own Cherries,” “ The Colloseum at Rome,” “ The Buried City of Pompeii” (with Mount Vesuvius in the background), and the Biblical picture ff The Good Samaritan.” Bandmaster Stevens gave a good rendering of “A Dream of Paradise.” Some very fine animated statuary of Biblical subjects and a beautiful set of slides incidental upon the life of Christ, leading right up to the crucifixion, were shown. Th? pictorial part of the entertainment conoluded with the tableau “ The Rook of Ages," with Bplendid dissolving effects. A prayer meeting followed. The Brigadier announced that as Monday was their best night throughout New Zealand a box plan would bo opened, aud patrons could secure a seat in the dress circle for 2s 6d. The looal pictures had turned opt splendidly, and would be glaoed on the screen this evening,
