The King and Queen, Prince of Wales, and Duke of Connaught were present at Admiral Caillard’s reception aboard the battleship Jajureguifcerry. _ _ King Edward reviewed the' French fleet, which was afterward® docked at Portsmouth, owing to the thick weather.

Responding to Admiral CaiHard’s toast of bis health, 08 hoped the officers and men would be satisfied with the welcome given by the comrades cf the British fleet. Dense masses of spectators for miles, despite the rain, watched the subsequent berthing of the French ships where no foreign warships except a few American had over berthed before. Tbe enthueiasm grew hourly. Tbe Prinos of Walos presided at the Admiralty banquet to Admiral Onillard and officers at the Royal naval barracks in the evening.
