The Gisborne Times PUBLISHED EVERY MORNING. GISBORNE, AUG. 9, 1905. THE FISHER FIASCO.

A facsimile of the famous voucher by which i't was sought to inflict a cruel wrong on ‘the Premier through his family, cam's': to hand by yesterday's mail, and by the courrtesy of the Secretary of the Liberal Astooiation 1 (Mr .T. J. Dicksion) we had. an opportunity of examining the voucher anU also the rest of the charges and replies thereto. The editor of the Dunedin Star promptly gave t/lic lie direct to Mr Fisher, and on every point raised in the series of infamous charges, the Premier and Ministers -give the most positive disproof- At first it was mentioned as a redeeming point

in Fisher’s favor that there might have heen some similarity, in the signature; or that, as in some cases, an undecipherable scrawl was made to do duty for the person’s name. 'But Mr Sneddon writes his name in clear, bold characters which cannot be mistaken. To any’ man of ordinary intelligence the context would show that it was utterly ridiculou to confound Captain Seddon’s name with that of Mr Snedfdon. The probability. is .that ’«omc sneak information [Was supplied, and that Mr Fisher was so eager to avail 1 * himself of it that he did not bother to test its reliability or otherwise. .The position he has now taken up is that certain specific charges haying been proved false he demands an enquiry by, which he hopes to fish out ' something of a damaging nature.
