PARLIAMENT.
'AFTERNOON SITTING. (Per Press Association.)' Wellington, last night. , Tho Houso met nt 2.80. On the motion to go into Committee of Supply for consideration of the Estimates considerable discussion took place on the Defence Department. The motion was agreed to on the voices, and a lengthy debate took place on the first item. In reply to Mr Massey, Mr Soddon said he would endeavor to bring down the Public Works Statement and Estimates not later than three weeks from date. EVENING SITTING.
The House resumed at 7.30. The first item of tbe Estimates was discussed at great length. Considerable attention was paid to criticism of the “ memo ” system, but many other questions were also touched upon.
