Tho Board set up to inquire into the managomont of tho Soddonvillo State.coal mine received longtliy cvidooco from Bishop gonoral'managor), Murray (mino manager) and other officials connected with the mino. Tho ovidenco wont to show that there was a considorabio quantity of slack (or small coal in tho mino, for whioh tho managomont had found a difficulty in Obtaining a market. The prioas obtained for coal for a timo were a loss on tbo working exponses, but moro satisfactory, prices were now being obtained, and coal from tho south area was valued for household purposes. Tho chiot engineor of tho Westport dredging, flotilla suid tho coal used had destroyed tho bars in the furnaces, but tho effect was not so uotioeablo whoro a forced draught was used. Tho Board concluded its inquiry at Westport to-day, aad leaves for Greymouth in tho morning.
