RECHABITE SOCIAL.

A SUCCESSFUL FUNCTION.

Amongst the most successful socials held in the district during the year are those hold by the Eriondly,Societieson their anniversaries. They generally prove the most enjoyable, and the Bechabite order is always well on a par with, if not more sociable than, those of the sister societies. Such proved to be again- the- case last evening, when His Majesty's Theatro held a happy and bright assemblage, fully 100 couples tripping the light fantastic. The occasion was the celebration of the loth anniversary of the Gisborne Tent, and the 4th anniversary of the Star of New Zealand Tent, the two Tents combining as in former years in the celebration. Excellent arrangements had been made for the social, no detail being omitted. The stage had been very nicely arranged as a garden scene, with card tables placed amidst the greenery. From the front of the dress loirele bung the attractive banner of tha Ballanco Juvenile Tent, whereon were displayed the emblem of the Order and tha motto, “ Peace and Plenty—the Howard of Temperanoe.” On the wings of the stage were placed the dispensation and merit boards of both adult Tents. Tha Gisborne Tent’s merit board contained tho names of its following Past Chief BnJcrs : Bros. E. Stafford, E. A. Slock, A. H. Budd, J. B. Adams, W. Katcliffe, B. Hird 4 P, PearsOD, B. Bates, A. Goorgeson,, H. Webb, A. G. Pool, A. W. Kirk, M. Cr. Nasmith, E. Ebeling, W. Boland, ’H. Anderson and S. Graham. The Past Chief Bulers of Star of Now Zealand Tenfc showed as follows : —Sisters I. Georgeson, 2). O’Connor. H. Birch, M. Birrell, E. j McGrath, C. Boland and L. CarroD. The floor was in the best of order for dancing, as evidenced by tho opinions of the dancers, [and with tho excellent music provided by I Miss Kuth Moore, a good evening’s enjoyrnont was furnished. A splendid supper was provided, the tables being most ticaily decorated by the sisters. A fine programme of dances had been arBros. T. Holdsworth and H.
