WELLINGTON NEWS.

(Per Pffess Association.) Wellington, last, night,

About a dozen retail butchers carrying on business in the city ond suburbs waited ou the Minister for Agriculture this evening to object to a clauso in the Slaughtering and Inspection Bill, under which a local body may delegate power to establish abattoirs. The deputation approved of municipal abattoirs, but it is feared that if they were driven to have stock killed by the company it would end in them having to buy their meat dead instead of alive. The Minister said ho would take care that before any delegation was acceded to no one would be injured. Replying to a deputation to night the Premier said the Government would endeavor to have Trafalgar Day observed as a school holiday and have flags unfurled at schools. The High Commissioner would represent the colony at the Loudon celebrationis.

Tho Council of Marine Underwriters' Association has decided that on December 31st it will dispense with all branch offices, secretaries, and surveyors throughout the colony, and for future all business will be conducted through tbe president or Assoeition, this beiog done on the ground of economy.
