The Petitions Committee has .recommended that the petition of Charles Lett, of Auckland (who prays for reforms in the lunatic asylums) should be referred to the Government for consideration. Mr Fisher said : 11 1 know a street in this city in which three families, comprising 16 people, are living in one sevenroomed house, because they cannot afford to pay tha rent of separate houses.” The petitions Committee, in reporting upon the petition of Jessie Mackenzie - (of Auckland) aB to tha proposed home for imbecile children, urgeß the Government to institute thr home or homes with as jlttle delay as possible.
