Thero is a fair quantity of wheat offering locally which is more or less sprouted, and sellers are asking Id to 2d more than buyers are willing to give for it. There has been practically no business doing during the past few days, except with wheat in second hand, with which there has been a little turnover. The Tomoana is to load a quantity of wheat at Lyttelton next week for London at a 20s freight, but the quantity required is in the shipper’s hand. Oats are a little firmer, as buyers have had to make tome advance in order to obtain supplies. There are not, however, many lines on offer, and little business is passing. A line of 400 bushels of heavy milling Canadians has been purchased at Is 9d, ODd 1000 bushels of eparrowbills at Is 6£d at country stations.
