Thus the Napier Telegraph on Mr T Taylor :—“ His conduct of late as a politician has been such a 3 to suggest that he
has an altogether inflated idea of his own icopo! tense. Ho possibly is encouraged in this by tiro Opposition, who, on tho principle tha' any stick is good onough to beat a dog with, are content to directly or indirectly encourage him to action in the House, the result of which is too often a scene not creditable to the Legislature. Wo suggest to tho Opposition that they can do much towards putting an end to this sort cl thing.” The Now Zealand Shipping Company’s fine wool store in (drey Street is again to be tho seeuo of tho annual social in aid of tho Gisborne Hospital. pjd and barbarous method of branding cattle Wtfcfi a red hot brand has at last been superseded by a painless operation, in which a specific known as the Do Lisle Lutrell Composition secures a better and more permanent result, without causing the slightest shock to the beast, or injuring the hide in any way. At' Messrs Lowet and lorns’ yards yesterday afternoon Mr de B. do Lisle practically illustrated the merits of the brand before a fairly large gathering of farmers. He treated a pen of nine yearlings, which were altogether in one enclosure, aad got through the work quickly and with the most satisfactory results. The surface to be branded was clipped, the brand dipped lightly into the composition, and being pressed firmly on the clipped surface loft a clear and clean brand. Farmers ar6 not slow to appreciate a practical innoyafion, such as the one under notice, and the opinion was freely expressed that the brand would only require to be better known to be generally used throughout the district, It has everything to recommend it —no I pain is caused by itsmse, the hide is not injured in the slightest degree, it can be | used in all 'weathers, the results aro permanent, and the cost decidedly reasonable. The whole process of branding can ba carried out by one man, whjob is also a distinct advantage. Some twelve nibnttiß ago Mr T. W. Moore, of the Club hotel stables, Mastorton, branded a number of horses with fho composition, and ho states that the braud is thoroughly effective and satisfactory in every-way
