ADDINGTON MARKETS.

(Per Press Association.) Christchurch, last night. At tho Addington yards there were moderate entries of stock m all aepartments, except fat cattle and pigs,and there was a good attendance. There was again * good demand for store sheep, lambs sold at the previous rates and fat sheep recovered from the decline of previous week. Beef was irregular, but on tbe whole there was no change in value. Pi E s, with the exception of porkers, were dull of sale. There was an improved demand for dairy cows. Store sheep—A small entry was made up of wethers and ewes, which met with a cood sale, especially young ewes m lamb. Tbe principal lots sold were 200 four, six and eight, tooth crossbred ewes at 28s, 432 four and five year old do. 21s Bd, ana 100 two and four tooth halfbreds 16s 4d, 60 wethers 19s, 146 at 183 Bd, 92 at- 18s, and 261 at 17s 6d. _ _ Fat lambs A small yarding, wmeh containedonlya small proportion of heavyweights. Thors was fair competition, and practically no change in values. Tegs made 19s to 20s Bd, and standard weignta 16s 4d to IBs 9d. - Y,':T. Fat sheep—There was a moderate yarding, mostly wethers, including a few lots of merinos. Competition was much keener all through the sale than it was last week, butchers being tbe prineipal Duyers. Prime wethers and ewes soldi fully up to rates realised a fortnight ago, but aged and inferior ewes, and those suspected of being in lamb were generally neglected, and wero only saleable'at low rates. The range- of prices were : Extra prime wethers 23s 3a to 31s 6d, prime 23s to 275, others 20s to 22s 6d. prime ewes 20s to 22s 10d, medium 17s to 19s 6d, aged and light 13s to 16s, merino wetherß 14s 6d to 16s 93. Fat cattle —The entry totalled 247 head, of which only a Bmall proportion was really prime. The bidding was slack at the opening, hut afterwards improved, and though the sale was somewhat irregular the previous week’s rates were maintained. A. line of 12 steers from Mr W, F. M. Buckley Hoonhay, made £7 10s to £lll7s 6d ; 16 steers from Mr G. G- Holmes, Halswell£9 15s to £ll 10s, ana 7 heifers from Mr J. Deans, Homebush, £5 17s 6cl to £7 10s. Other steers brought £6 6s to £ll 17s 6d ; heifers £4 17s 6d to £7 151, and extra to £9 ; cows £4 10s to £7 10s, and extra to £S 15s, equal to 21s to 28s for prime, 19s to 20s for medium, and 17s to 18s 6d for low and inferior, par lOOlbs. A fair yarding of veal calves sold at 7a 6d to 38s.

Store Bnd dairy cattle : Only a few odd lots of store cattlo were yarded, and there was very little demand. There was & much better enquiry for dairy cows, and b moderate yarding met with a good sale. Best sorts made £7 to £S 15s, fend others £4 10s to £6 10s.

Pigs : There was a large yarding and a dull sale for all classes of export porkers, which were a little firmer. Baconers made 38s to 455. equal to 3d to 3£d a lb, a lino of 10 prime Berkshires from Sunnysida asylum selling at 46s to 54s ; porkers 22s to 30s, equal to 4d to 4£d per lb; large stores 20s to 275, medium 12s 6d to 188, and weaners 4s 6d to 7s 6d. -
