WORKMEN'S HOUSES.
GOVERNMENT’S PROPOSAL. Per Press Association.
1 Wellington, last night. At a meeting at Newtown to-night Mr Seddon said the Government proposed to borrow money to buy land for workmen’s homes, erect cottages and pat people in them. They would deal with areas of quarter or eighth acres. The cottages Would be allotted by ballot, and eaoh man cn securing a cottage would insure his life to tbo same value as the propertv. The purchase of a homo and payment cf insurance would cost a worker 10s weekly for 20 years. If the husband died the wife could draw the insuranco and pay for the home. Ho was not prepared to say that it might not be desirable to allow workmen $o pay d per cent, under aa. optional gut|baae system,
