{(Times’ Corxesppitdent.) July 12. The football match between Port Awanni and Whangara, played here on Saturday last, resulted in a win for the former by 21 points to S (7 tries to 2 tries and a goal). Awanni being the heavier team, had the advantage over their opponents, considering the state of the ground, rain falling during the whole of the match. Whangara played an uphill game, and had all the worst of the luck. Owing to the heavy rain, the Waipiro v. Tokomaru match, was put off. The fixtures for the 22nd are : Waipiro v. Awanui, at Takapau; Tolago v. Whangara, at Pakarae. Tolago Bay is leading for the Waiapu Cap and Banner with 7 points ; two wins, one draw, one forfeit, onelo3s ; Tokomaru 5 points r two wins, one draw, one loss ; Awanui 4 points, two wins, one loss ; Waipiro, two loss, one forfeit ; Whangara, two loss The roads are in a dreadful state, in places almost impassable. The mails now come along by pack horse, and no one envies the unfortunate mailman his billet.
. The Tokomaru Sohool Committee record their first vote for members of the Education Board at this election.
The school is at present closed, the teacher attending the winter classes in NapierMr F- von Liibbe, music teacher of Tolago Bay, has commenced a weekly visit to Tokomaru, having secured a number of pupils.
