GERMANS TAKING A REASONABLE VIEW. Bg; fceiegrapli, Press Ass’n, Copy sight Received 4,20 p.m., July 16. London, Jnly 15.
Lord Lansdowne states that the British Minister in Berlin is inquiring into the conditions on which foreigners are able to obtain domicile for trading purposes into Marshall Islands, and whether British firms will be able after October Ist to resume trading without unreasonable reetrictions.
Inquiring into tbs alleged German monopoly in the Carolioes, Lord Lansdowne believes that the prohibition cf trade in the Carolines is not absolute, and that is is probably due to unauthorised local action.
Referring to Lord Lansdowne’a statements, the Berlin press has been semiofficially informed that Germany has already recognised the need for reforms in -international commercial regulations in the Marshall and Caroline Islands. The Government is likely to revise the JTaliut Company’s contract, probably taking over the management. Reductions of duty are contemplated in October that will remedy for the present most causes of complaint. They add that there is no need for harry; since Prince Von Bulow is busy with mnch more important matters.
