CEITICISM OF POLIOS METHODS (Pw Fscfls A&soe-L&iiou. ) Christchurch, last night! Ten men were brought before Mr Biddle, S.M., to day on a charge connected with Saturday night’s riot. In the case against Ohas. Denham, accused was flood 10s for drunkenness, £5 for obscenity, and £5 for assaulting the police. The other cases were then taken.
At she Police Court this morning SubInspector Dwyer made an angry complaint against Truth, an evening paper published in Christchurch, for remarks in a leader not complimentary to the police methods in connection with last Saturday’s riots. He spoke at some length. Mr Biddle, S.M., said the Court could only express an opinion. Sub-Inspector Dwyer contended thai the police were trying to restore order and uphold the law, and nad the confidence of law-abiding people.
