DISEASE AMONG CATTLE.
TWO THOUSAND DEATHS. (Per Press Association.) Stratford, last night. The Taranaki Government Veterinarian has been advised that a mysterious disease has appeared on certain farms within a radius of 24 miles at Kaimate, near Inglewood. In three years 2000 calves’ deaths have occurred. One farmer this year has already lost 37 calves. Captain Young, veterinary, has gone to investigate. When interviewed he could give no information about the disease, which differs from those the Department is usally osllod upon to deal with. He expects his investigations to occupy about ten daye.
