At the tallow sales 830 casks were offered and 577 sold. Prices showed an occasional 3d advance.
(Per Press Association.) Nupier, last nigbt. The Colonial Consignment and Distributing Company ba3 received tbe following cable from London :—“. Frozen'meat; Quotations ‘Canterbury mutton, 4id ; Napier, Wellington and North Island, 3£-d ; lamb, first 5Ad, second 5 38d ; beef, hinds 3 3-Bd, fores 3 3 Bd.”
MATAWHERO SALES. There was a good attendance at Matawhero yards yesterday despite the unfavorable state of the weather.;.;' Several lines of sheep end cattle were unable to come forward owing to the flooded Btate of tbe rivers.
Messrs Common, Shelton and Co. and Dalgoty and Co. had a yarding of about 700 sheep. The Bale was spirited, especially towards the close. Sixty-soven empty ewoa in low condition brought 11s 6d, 286 fall mouth ewes 163 Id, 272 fat and forward wethers -20 s £d.
Cotti6—Only a few wera yarded, as sevorai lines, including 50 head frorji the Coast failed to come to hand, tho rivers being too high. Messrs Williams and Kettle and tho Now Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agoney Company had a fair yarding of sheep, consisting of about 3000. Tbe whole yarding obaDgod hands at satisfactory prices.' Pigs : There wras a good oD/.ry, and the demand was fate. Seven small porkers brought 7s, aba 5 biggarones 16s fid, 8 batchers’ pig 3 20s, 8 and 11 porkers Ids, 7 euckers 3s.
