Tho gold returns for Auckland district mines for the first half-year of 1905 have been completed, and a’tbcugb the yield does not touch the record, it is, nevertheless, a gratifying one, showing an increase compared with the corresponding period 0£.;1904. The total amount due for the half-yearly period just closed is £127,344, as compared with £425,192 for the first six months qf 1904. ..... The motor ’bus running between Cathedral Square and tho railway station for 15 months covered 15,000 miles in that time, and carried 80,000 passengers. It is now running between Cbrietuhurch and Bicca-tun. and giving proof of great usefulness of the motor ’busses for suburban traffic.
