ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.

Hastings, yesterday. At the inquest on a child named Sadfeldt, aged-five months, fonnd v dead in' bed on Sunday morning at Kereru, a verdict was given that deceased died of rupture of the stomach, caused by a sudden pressure or fermentation of the contents of the Stomach. 1 • Christchurch, laßt night Yesterday Arthur. Chapman, aged 23. accidentally shot himself dead whilst hareehooting at Ohoka Swamp. At an inquest held at Kaiapoi to-day on Chapman, the jury returned a verdict that he met his death by a gunshot, which was accidental. Dunedin, last night. The scow Echo, which arrived last night from Kaipat3, reports that Andrew Grey, one of the crew, foil overboard in a heavy sea when 50 miles from Kaipara. Captain Olsen hove-to and put out a boat, but all efforts to find Grey were unsuccessful. The boat was almost smashed before returning. Deceased was aged 23, unmar-. ried, and a native of Auckland.
