Nelson, last night. At the ADglioan Diocesan Synod a resolution was carried that the Synod views with alarm the sproad of gambling, and pledges itself to do its utmost to stem the evil. In the course of tho debate, the Lotteries'Act, church bazaars and art udiods for “mineral specimens’’ and gone-ally the toialisatnr betting at races, football, and cricket were condemned'as most prevalent. Tho West Coast clergy bewailed tho almost universal prevalence of “ two-up ” gambling on tho Coast. The Synod has now closed.
