AUCKLAND NEWS.

(Per Press' Association.) Auckland, last night. The Now Zealand Crown mines during June treated 1610 tons of ore for bullion valued at £3371. The resolution of the Wanganui Chamber of Commerce that the settlement of large | tracts of unimproved native lands would be best accomplished by the Crown obtaining sueb lands by means of the Native Lauds for Settlement Act, providing that the capital value be invested by Govern ment so as to provide a continuous income for native owners, and that Government be asked to introduce the neoessary legislation this session, oame before the Council of Chamber of Commerce to-night. After discussion, in which it was suggested that Natives be plaeedon the same footing as Europeans, it was decided to endorse the resolutions subject to the proviso that the capital value of the laud should be paid to natives as soon as bis title shall be ascertained by a competent Court.
