There was a moderato attendance. The home team is: Hill, Groig, Johnston, Persse, Jophaon, Wyofct, Stone, lilewellyn, Baldwin, Bowel!, and Mend. Kelly, McLeod, Laver, and Darling are standing out of the colonial team. v , t . Noble won the toss, and decided to bat. Duff and Trumper were, as usual, first partners, and the former had a couple of lives before Hill got him in the slips. for 89. Trumper played a. brilliant allround innings- and with Hill piled on the runs at a great paoe. Trumper gave one chance, which was accepted, low down at mid-on. He had been batting 75 minutes, - and his score included 16 fourers. \TvjfO for 162. Hill, by hard driving and faultless cricket, compiled his century in 110 minutes. After a faultless inning of - hours 6 minutes ho was dismissed by a Well-judged catch by Bowoll at long-on* His score included one sis and 18 fourers. Three for 270. Noble, by sound, hard , driving, with the assistance of Armstrong , kept the ,’scorers busy until at 37 the Victorian' was bowled by Mead. Fpn r * or 864. The same bowler captured Hopkins with bis first ball, without any addition to the total. Noble sent np his century in 160 minutes, and one run later was caught at cover-point by Mead, who held the ball at a second attempt. Noble, who had given two chances, hit 12 fourers. Six for 897. Gregory was 22 when Gehrs joined him, and they kept the field busy, despite changes in the bowling, for the remainder of the day. Four hundred appeared at the end of four hours* play, and when the fetumps were drawn the position was bix wickets for 518. Gregory played a brilliant innings, and compiled 100 in 75 minutes.
