A SCHOOL SCANDAL.
[(Per Press 'Association,') Auckland, last night. The Woodside school trouble seems to bo no nearer settlement than when it began. The Education Board declined to recognise the two committees elected simultaneously and by two different bodies of householders, and have appointed two commissioners instead. ' Now one of the commissioners, Captain Clayton, has resigned. The school mistress (Mrs Wellsop) haß resigned, and one teacher is absent on sick leave, and a relieving teacher is oarrying on the school of 59 pupils, sitting in the doorway, so that an aye may bo kept on both rooms pi, onoe. The sohool is not now regularly cleaned. The contract for this work has expired and has not boon renewed. Some of the pupils do a bit with the broom, which has the merit of a lesson in one of the rudiments of house wifery. In the meantime steps are being taken in the district to petition Parliament for an alteration in tbe law, so sbat the school committees may, if they deem necessary, proceed against.
