ADDINGTON MARKET.

(Pen Press Association.) Christchurch, last night. At the Addington Yards there were moderate entries in almost all departments and a fair attendance. There was a keen demand for forward store sheep and breeding ewes, and a small yarding of fat cattle resulted in a rise in prices. Prime fat lambs sold at about late raie3 and backward sorts were easier. Fab wethers were very firm, while ewes showed a decline. Pigs of oil classes were firmer. There was a poor sals for store and dairy cattle. •Store sheep—Only a few lots, entered, and there was a ready sale for breeding ewea and forward wethers and hoggets at advanced rates, bat backward Boris showed no change. The chief sales were 190 crossbred owes in lamb at 20s, 25 at 19s 3d, 196 wethers at 19s 3d, 143 alb 19s Id, 88 at 18s 2d, 105 at 17a lid, 311 ab 17s 6d,210 ab 16s 4a, 142 at 16s Sd, 118 hoggets at 14s Bd, 40 at 14s 7d, and 36 at' 13s 4d, Fab lambs—Prime sorts sold at about the previous week’s rates, and unfinished lots were easier. The range of prices was : Tegs 19s 6d to 20s 7d, standard weights 17s to 19s 6d, and others 14s lOd to 16s 6d. Fab sheep—The entry was a fairly heavy one, and was made np principally of large lines of prime wethers. The offering of ewes was not large, and medium and inferior sorts were rather lower in value, a few lots being taken for freezing. On the other hand wethers were very firm, and prime sorts ahowed an advance. The range of priceß was : Prime wethers 23s to 26a, extra to 31s 6d, light 20s to 22s 6d, ewes (heavy lines) 20a to 27s 7d, medium and good 27s to 19s 6d, others 14s to 16s 63. Fat cattle—The yarding comprised only 117 head, mostly useful steers. The market showed an advance of 10s to 20s per head over the previous week’s prices. A line or 12 steers made from £7 17s 6d to £9 12s 6d, and 17 heifers £5 12s 6d to £8 2s 6d. 3teers sold at £7 5s to .£lO, beiferß £5 to £6, and cows £4 17s 6d to £6, and§ one extra £8 sa, equal to 21s to 13s, medium 18s to 20a per 1001 b. Veal calves sold at 7s 6d to £2 ss. There was a mixed lot-of store cattle and no really good dairy cows, the highest price afc the auction being £7 15s. 1 Pigs—There was an improvement all round in prices, especially in stores. Baoonera made 45s to 495, heavier weights to 62?, equal to 3£d to 4d per lb ; porkers 28s to 365, equal to 4d per lb ; large stores 20s to 30s, medium 123 6d to 17s 6d, ana weftaers 63 to 10s 6d. A line of 16 baconers from Mr J. A. McCrae Peacock s, Swaonanoa, made to 625.
