A BRAVE ACT.
'(Per Press Association.) Auckland, last night. E. MoGlenn, railway porter at Pukekoho, performed a brave act yesterday. As the train was approaching the station an old man named Richard Clifford was cro'., .jg the lines. Many people shouted So him. When the engine was 30ft off Clifford turned his back to it, being apparently ds.jcd. MoGlnnn rushed on the msecs and seised Clifford. They fell together. They were lying across one rail, the engine being right on- tog of them. Moslem, made a feel effort, and rolled ■himself and Clifford clear just as the engine passed the spot.. The brakes had been applied, but the engine and two carriages passed over tho spot where Clifford stood.
